Here's another Q&A for you. Share your thoughts! The EXOTIC theme is a very popular style all over the country. It combines a jungle/safari motif with what some people call the Ernest Hemmingway travel/tropical look. Since greens are such a big component of this theme, sage and forest blend well.
I would try a dark tan/amber color for the walls. It's dark enough to be mysterious, but neutral enough to let your bedding be the main attraction. Lowes' cheapest paint (Enterprise) is pretty good - I use it in my home. I chose Adobe Tan (#294) for the breakfast area and Canyon Haze (#204) for the kitchen/dining area. Nice combination. These are your backdrops to accents of color -- pillows, throws, pottery, artwork. Keep them in the green-brown range with only the ocassional pop of an orange red, and your spread will take center stage. ---------- Blessings, ~~Lisa HGPgal

I have the African theme in our now home in the master bath. I painted the walls two shades of a gray/green/brown(ish) color (truly its gorgeous!) 2 walls are a bit darker than the other. I found 3 different heights of wrought iron candle holders, 2 it set on the garden tube and the other by the commode. For the walls I found on e-bay contemporary African art prints with neutral tones and a splash of burnt orange, gray and bronze. They are of 6 different African animals and 2 African women. Above our Jacuzzi tube I hung a twin size canopy (not the round kind) I tied up the 6 tails with bead tiebacks having a puff balloon and about 3 1/2 feet hanging. I have lots of silk greenery (I don't have a green thumb) a large wood inlay vase & huge tray/plate. The finishing touch, a Moroccan plum crackle glass jar with beads & brass and a couple shadow box African art pieces commonly found now. Not yet complete 3 walls pint in the Master bedroom are a warn golden brown that feels like suede. The headboard wall has tiger print fur centered with the headboard. I will use split bamboo at the edge of the wallpaper at the paint edge. The ceiling & floor; tropical ceiling fan and a tropical throw rug over plum plush carpet. At the windows bamboo reed roll up shades with a tiger print scarf at each.
